what green living relation with the web design? the answer is : Very Much!
one of the criteria of good web design is a fast loading time and the user friendly navigation menu.

in many developing countries, the use of CRT monitors are still very dominant compared to the LCD monitor, although we know that the power consumption of tube CRT monitor is larger then LCD monitor.

So, if we use web design templates with fast loading time and user friendly navigation menu, we will reduce the consumption of CRT tubes, and eventually will reduce electricity consumption significantly. let's calculate mathematically:

we assume:
bandwidth of the Internet in many developing countries speed are 56Kbps,
Page Size Website A(a good design): 100Kb
Page Size Website X (defective design): 300 KB

the time needed to open a web page is
page size / bandwidth
Website A: 100Kb / 56Kbps = 1.7 seconds
Website X: 300Kb / 56 KBps = 5.4 Seconds

then with a good web design we can save 3.7 seconds in the use of CRT tube monitor.

If in a day we are browsing 100 pages of website
then we save the : 3.7 seconds x 100 pages = 370 seconds = 6 minutes a day
and we save: 6 days x 30 Minutes = 180 Minutes = 3 Hours a month

if CRT power consumption is 76 W and the cost of electricity is a KWH or Kilo Watt per Hour.
then we save electricity in a month: 3 Hours x 76 W = 228Watt.

if there are 1000 users in a country that use the CRT monitor,
then with a good web design we can save power consumption as:
1000 x 228 = 228 Kilo Watt
